Manufacturers in West Virginia play a critical role in the state’s economic stability and growth. Assemble West Virginia — the advocacy mobilization arm of the West Virginia Manufacturers Association — provides ongoing support to manufacturers throughout the state. Specifically, the mission of Assemble WV is to drive action on important legislation affecting the manufacturing industry, communicate the voting performance of legislators, and maintain various legislative tools.

The Website Build

Assemble West Virginia launched its website in September, 2017, and Jamie Summers-Brown was tasked with building it from the ground up. The process required Jamie having a solid understanding of Assemble WV’s mission so that he would know what internet tools and website layout would be most beneficial for those accessing the website.

Rebecca McPhail, president of the West Virginia Manufacturers Association, hired Jamie to build the Assemble WV website based on her general direction. “This was a build from some concepts I envisioned that Jamie was able to turn into reality,” she explains. “Jamie provided a few drafts, asked for content and additional information as needed, and turned something I had sketched out on paper into a high functioning site.” 

The website includes key facts about manufacturing, a summary of pending legislation, and relevant Twitter feeds. Rebecca notes, “The site is easy to use and provides a great deal of information in a clear and concise way.”

An Ongoing Relationship

Jamie’s ability to transform the needs of Assemble West Virginia into a professional, functioning website has resulted in his ongoing work with the organization. Jamie will continue to manage the website’s functionality, which will include simplifying the process by which the public can gain access to legislative information and policy-related content impacting the West Virginia manufacturing industry.
