The Bioscience Association of West Virginia represents the state’s biotech industry and its participants. The goal of BioWV is to grow the state’s life science industry by encouraging research and the commercialization of that research, creating jobs for fellow West Virginians.
Company Story
When the board of BioWV wanted to improve their minimal website, they sought bids from various firms for the project. Jamie Summer-Brown’s proposal stood out. Executive director Bryan Brown recalls, “Jamie had a great value proposition in his bid, in terms of accomplishing the specs we had set out as well as a solid, respectable budget.”
Director Brown and the board had a solid understanding of what the website needed. “I’ve put together websites in the past, so between my board chairman and myself, we put together a list of needs that the website should accomplish. Jamie also helped put that together and walked us through the process of how he would implement our needs and put them online.” The board was pleased with the final result. “It’s a very nice looking website. It’s sharp, it stands out. It’s a good platform for us to share and disseminate information about the bioscience industry in West Virginia.”
Understands West Virginia
One thing the association desired was that the site stay fresh and showcase current events in the biotech industry. To that end, Jamie set up an RSS feed, capturing current news articles about the life science industry. Prominently displayed, the articles are highly visible to visitors to the site.
Summers-Brown understands how important it is to make such information easily available to the public. As Bryan Brown said, “Jamie is well-known among the business trade association set in West Virginia. Through his work, he is very up to speed on issues that impact the state and that naturally lends itself to having a solid perspective on the news and information that might affect the bioindustry.”
Gets It Done
Jamie’s work for BioWV is just one facet of Bryan Brown’s experience with Bricks Without Straw. They have collaborated on several other projects, including projects for the coal industry, the convenience store industry, the trucking industry, and a host of others. In his dealings with Jamie, one thing in particular has really impressed Brown. “When you ask him to do something, he gets it done immediately or lets you know when he’ll get it done. That sets him above others that I’ve worked with; you don’t find that in every vendor that you deal with. Jamie does a fantastic job of being responsive to his clients needs.” As Brown concluded, “It’s a great benefit to those of us who utilize his services.”
